On 25 November 2006, I was lucky enough to go to America for the first time in my life, and I traveled for free at that! I went with a friend who had two KLM vouchers for any KLM destination in the world, and we decided to visit Frisco.

Another surprise awaited us: two people with business-class seats never showed up, so we could take their places. It was a dream come true.

I asked the crew if I could take a picture in the cockpit, and it was no problem at all. Thanks to the cabin crew of that day!
This is my first (far from decent) picture I took with a digital camera, the Canon Ixus 55. It was taken on 23 July 2006 along the Kaagbaan, one of the greatest spotting places in those days.

This cargo Boeing was one of the few planes that fitted in the tiny Ixus' lens.

One of my hobbies is taking pictures of aircraft. Big or small, new or old: I like them all.
Whenever I have a chance, I grab the camera and shoot a picture.

The larger part of my airplane pictures come from Amsterdam Airport or Schiphol. It's one of the best places I know to take pictures. There's a great Visitors' Terrace, freely accessible, where you have a good view on some of the runways. There's always traffic, it's never deserted. There are both smaller planes and widebodies. However, it depends on the wind if you will see planes land or take-off when you are at the Terrace.

But taking pictures along the most famous runway, the Polderbaan, is also awesome. There is an official spotters' place where you can go for free. There are no high fences, so you always have a clear view. Most of the time, the sun is in your back, so you won't get any backlit pictures. Police is patrolling, but as long as you don't cross the low fences, you are more than welcome.

My hobby brought me to some great international airports: Amsterdam, Detroit, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, London, Miami, Las Vegas, Vienna, and Los Angeles. But I have visited smaller airports as well.

I have made thousands of pictures by now, and of course I will not display them all here on this blog. I will have to make a selection, yet I still hope you like what you see.

Feel free to leave a message!

Cheers,
